We know it is hard to capture a great photo of a constantly moving baby, toddler or child. So we got Clare from Clare Metcalf Photography to compile a list of helpful hints that will assist you in capturing gorgeous shots all by yourself. A beautiful photo makes for a stunning invitation, so use Clare's advice if you are planning on providing your own photos for an invitation-design.

1. Avoid using your camera's flash. Wait for a sunny time of day and photograph your child near window light or outside under a tree.

2. Be aware of backgrounds. Tidy and de-clutter the room you're going to use for photographing to be sure the background won't distract from from your little one.

3. Don't get too close. Step back and let the background frame your child's face.

4. Even small spaces have potential. Use a blanket, rug or plain white wall as a backdrop.

5. Think about what your dressing them in. A variety of outfits and colours will give you more options when choosing the final shot.

6. Get outdoors. Autumn is the perfect time for green grass and piles of leaves so take your toddler to the park for some candid shots. In warmer weather, the beach is the perfect spot to capture your child having fun.

7. Need inspiration? Get googling to find thousands of great shots from across the globe.
